Personal Flat Tax Proposal

I think that one way that would make everyone happy if the all want to talk budget at this time would be a personal Flat Tax,  and Corporate Flat Tax and over the top Import Tax on US Corporate Products that are made over seas and brought back into the US for sale.

They want to keep saying that this or that would not make jobs?  Well I feel that this is a great way to make jobs. It’s going to bring the jobs back to the US that went over Seas for cheaper labor costs…

For a look at my idea for a flat tax go here…

Why is our Government holding us hostage?

Why is our Government holding us hostage?

Our Washington Senators have known for over a year that this day would come, and now that we are in the final hours before the credit rating of the United States is lowered because of our inability to pay our debits, they are still arguing about who should be the ones to pay for Washington’s over spending and Senator’s adding money to bills to pay for projects that are designed to do nothing but put money in the pockets of their political supporters.  One sides says, “let’s make the top 10% or the top 1% of the richest people and Corporations pay their far share instead of giving them all the tax breaks” Lets also stop giving Money to Big Corporations when they are, at the same time, reporting Mega Million Dollar Profits and very large Bonuses for their CEO’s and Officers.”  And then the Other side says “NO… we cannot make the rich pay a far tax, it will cost jobs. The poor and the disabled and the elderly should have to pay for the debit by us taking away the entitlement programs that take care of them.”   I need to ask.. since the Stimulus Packages that started with President. Bush and continued with President Obama, how many jobs in the United States have the Big Corporations or the Upper Rich help to open up for American Workers?

I also ask, Why do the Senators always have to wait until the last minute to get any work done?  Why did they have to make a big deal out of giving up their 4th of July, 2 week vacations to work on this problem, did they not just get over 2 other Vacations for Memorial Day and a long week and a half vacation for Easter?  If I did my job the same way that our Senator’s do, I would be fired.  When my boss says he wants something done, he means that it needs to be done now, and if it means I need to work over time I have to do it…

Also… If I had a job where I was put into a position of responsibility to represent a group of people, I think that I would want to know what that group of people wanted me to do, and the make my decisions on their wishes and not on what some big lobbyist is telling me I should be doing.  Also, I’m sure that I would not want to get the elderly or the disabled upset with my job, because not only do they have time to watch what is going on, they read and study what is going on and worst of all they vote.  I would not want the low income upset with me ether because, it does not matter what party they belong to, and it don’t matter if they do not have the best voting records, when it comes down to making them take on more of a burden and have to loss benefits, they to know how to band together and vote also.

I for one feel that if our Senators cannot do their jobs, they need to be replaced, and the ones that are left, need to be recalled and everyone, As I was told by a friend, replaced from the top down to the guys and girls who sharpen the pencils.  Replaced by normal people, hard working Americans who want to see this Country return to the wonderful country it once was, where you can find things that say, (MADE IN AMERICA) and that the Jobs come back to this country, or products that are made byAmerican Corporations overseas and are brought back to the US to be sold are Taxed so high that no one here would ever want to buy them …

Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said Sunday that he did not initially think lawmakers would bring the debt-ceiling negotiations “this close to the edge,” appearing taken aback by the lingering distance between the two sides with an Aug. 2 deadline looming

Though Republicans have pressed for something short-term, Geithner said Sunday that a debt-ceiling increase that only brings the country into early 2012 “makes no sense.” He said the administration wants a deal that lasts “through the election.”

I suggest that they all get off their butts and do this and do it right,  Leave the elderly, the poor and the disabled alone,  Cut Spending!  Get rid of Ear Marks and Lobbyists…. Stop listening to Big Money and the Big Corporations…  Stop looking for ways to spend money and do whatever it is going to take to finish the job you have been elected to do…   Work together and stop acting like two groups for school yard bullies…

OK.. I NOW STEP DOWN OFF MY SOAP BOX AND SURENDER IT TO ANYONE ELSE WHO HAS THE BALLS TO STAND UP AND MAKE YOUR POINT.

Time for the people to Stand up!!!

To start this off let me explain that I “AM NOT A DIE HARD OBAMA SUPPORTER”  I am an American, and I am proud of my Country and I hate seeing it being torn apart by a hand full of childish spoiled little brats.  IE;  group of lawmakers known as the “Gang of Six,”   First off look at the name that they have given themselves,

All I hear is Obama or doing this, or Obama is doing that… and then I sit back and look around at what is really happening… I see today that the GOP party wants to make big cuts to Medicare, SSI and other programs that help and care for the low income people; however I do not see them cutting their own pay, their Big Retirement programs or their health care.  I do not see them doing anything to try and fix the problems that the last GOP President made for this country, I hear people blaming Obama for the size of the deficit and bitching that he is spending money that he needs to spend to fix the problems that Bush left behind.

The Republicans point fingers at the Democrats and the favor is returned.  In the mean time the Republicans are so blind that they do not see that their own party is being hijacked by “The Tea Party”…   That’s kind of like the Mafia squeezing in on a group of little old ladies running a BINGO game…   When the Tea Party can tell the Speaker that he cannot agree to a deal, or tell other experienced GOP party members how they had better vote, someone needs to stand up and tell them to stand down and shut up….  I think it’s time for a total recall of all Tea Party members in office and time to send them back under the rocks they crawled out from under.  It’s time to stop yelling the Obama is Hijacking the Government and to look at the real hijackers…  Also I think it’s time someone looked at the past and studied how we have gotten this Government out of this kind of mess before… Yes it was a Republican who did it… however this time it’s going to take us all…

I am constantly amazed (and annoyed) when the Right claims that the US has been hijacked by the Left over the past few decades.  This is utter nonsense - the actual evidence indicates that we’ve moved far, far to the Right.

Consider the case of Dwight D. Eisenhower, the 34th President of the United States (1953-1961), Supreme Allied Commander in Europe during World War II, and a Republican.  Funny thing is, by today’s standards, Ike would be a flaming liberal, to the Left of all recent serious contenders for the Democratic Party presidential nomination.

Earned Income Tax: Ike’s Time vs. Our Time

The highest tax bracket on earned income today is 35%.  During Ike’s administration, the highest tax bracket was 92% in 1953, and 91% thereafter.  Yes, taxes on the Rich were almost three times higher under the Republican Eisenhower compared to our current President, or compared to the Democratic administration of Bill Clinton!

Capital Gains Tax: Ike’s Time vs. Our Time

It is considered to be almost the gospel today that capital gains should be taxed at a far lower rate  than earned income.  Today the maximum capital gains tax rate is a whopping 15% on assets that have been held for at least a year since purchase.  This is why the middle class, who are dependant on earned income, effectively pay taxes at a higher rate than do the wealthy.

In Ike’s day, capital gains were not treated differently from earned income, so the rich paid 91% tax on capital gains.  From  91% to 15% - another reason why it’s good to be rich!

Note that in 1955, in the middle of Ike’s presidency, the typical (median) family paid less than 20% in  all taxes .  By 2003, the total of all taxes paid by a typical family had more than doubled, to almost 40% of income.

So in Ike’s day, the rich paid a lot of taxes, the middle-class paid a little taxes, and somehow it all worked out.

But Did Ike Want To Tax The Rich?

You might be curious as to whether Ike actually wanted such a high tax rate on the Rich, or was somehow forced into it by, say, a Democratically-controlled Congress.  It turns out that when Ike ascended to the Presidency, both houses of Congress were indeed controlled by a single party - the Republican party.  Republicans controlled the Presidency, the House, and the Senate - they could have done anything they wanted.  And some in Congress did pressure Ike to roll back taxes on the rich, but he held the line, saying:

“We cannot afford to reduce taxes, reduce income, until we have in sight a program of expenditure that shows that the factors of income and outgo will be balanced.”
